What time period would you have lived in, if you could have lived at any time?
Screw time periods, how about an alternate universe where people aren't corrupt asshats?
What was the last game you played?
Well, duh, Kingdom of Loathing. Although I did just get The Sims 2 this weekend, finally, and am already hooked on it. And before that, I played Scrabble against someone on KoL. It's amazing how many propositions for Scrabble games I've gotten on there, solely because of my player name. It's great.
Since I've been drooling over INXS videos over on LJ all night, I thought I would post this video here. It's from Michael's side project in 1989, Max Q, of which I'd heard none until tonight. And wow, this video and song are both extremely powerful and hauntingly appropriate. Michael Hutchence was a man way ahead of his time, which is probably part of why he's not with us anymore.
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
Well, since I'm normally getting off work first thing in the morning, I don't often go for caffeine, but every once in a while I have stuff to do before I can go to bed. In that case, I stop over at Mornin' Glory and either get an Irish cream latte (on the rocks during the summer) or a Joe Mocha shake (vanilla milkshake with a shot of espresso and chocolate syrup). Otherwise, I usually just drink water once I'm home. Now, if we're talking my morning (i.e. 0000 hours), I drink iced tea that I make from Lipton Cold Brew tea bags while I'm at work - and way too much, really, but it's unsweetened so I guess things could be worse. That reminds me... crap... I'm all out. I'll have to get some before work tonight!
What do you usually do on Sunday?
It depends. If we have a project in mind, we're out on that, or returning from a road trip. Otherwise, it's mostly lazy, with some chores, family visits, and cooking thrown in for good measure. Monday morning, for me, begins at midnight, so I need to get some decent sleep before going into work, too. Well, today has been a fine exercise in laziness - I've been in bed most of the day, actually.
This house isn't gonna clean itself, missy!
What was the first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater?
Question submitted by mainmor.
Well, this will be brief, because the first movie I remember seeing in a theater was Superman 3, and my memory of this event is very fleeting considering I was all of three years old when it played. I think my mom took me. There, you have your fleeting memory QOTD.
I still think we did it better in IWC concert choir, but this is an excellent rendition with organ accompaniment. It gives me chills to hear it and brings tears to my eyes to sing it.
Verleih' uns Frieden gnädiglich,
Herr Gott, zu unser'n Zeiten,
Es ist doch ja kein Ander nicht,
Der für uns könnte streiten,
Denn du, unser Gott alleine.
Which loosely translates to:
In these our days so perilous,
Lord, peace in mercy send us;
No God but thee can fight for us,
No God but thee defend us;
Thou our only God and Saviour.
(My apologies for the super-quiet sound; make sure you turn your speakers back down after you're done listening or you might get an unpleasant surprise later!)
On our recent road trip down to my mom's house in Ft. Worth, TX, we stopped at an action figure museum in Oklahoma that was advertised on a billboard along I-35. It was kind of small, and the displays the guy had put together were a little masturbatory (albeit funny), but we had a good time looking through everything.
Anyway, I saw this action figure and immediately thought of Missy (aka freesnowcone) and her old icon with these guys on it, and had to take a picture of it for her. It's the little, obscure things, y'know.
What was your most memorable or favorite school field trip?
This sounds silly, but it was in third grade, on my 9th birthday. We went out to Briggs Woods for some sort of winter expedition, and got to walk across the frozen lake, which I remember thinking was pretty excellent. And then, we made snow ice cream! Well, the ice cream wasn't made out of snow, but we made it in soup cans buried in the snow. And I remember sitting next to my best friend and watching his digital watch count up till 1:13 PM, and as we sat and ate our ice cream, we cheered to my birthday.

I will try to re-locate it! I had someone else request it a few months ago and I cannot find... read more
